We know that people are getting a little antsy about this storm because it isn't piling up out there quite yet. The snow that fell before 8 AM threw everyone off and led to some early releases that were misfires, but that happens with these nor'easters. The shield of cold air from this past weekend might have been underrated in the effect it would have on delaying moderate snowfall rates.
But trust us that heavy snow is falling right now (6 PM) in South County and/or on the way elsewhere. Ultimately, we may end up with "only" 6-8 inches instead of 10-14, but that's still a solid storm with great timing for snow days and--alas--the fully remote day (grrr). If you said yesterday that "it's going to start snowing at 4 PM Monday, and we're expected to get 6-8 inches overnight," we'd all be thinking that snow days are almost assured for Tuesday.
Appreciate the map, Channel 13 WNYT! |
Hats off to any Superintendents that called for the full snow day either today or tomorrow. Let the kids play, as they say. (At least a few times each winter.)
Once this storm runs its course, all eyes will turn to next Sunday night and "Nor'easter: The Sequel." It's looking like a busy week. Somebody better feed the hamsters that power the GSD Super Computers!
