It came a little later than expected, but a Winter Storm Warning is now in effect for the County. This means 6+ inches within a 24-hour period is virtually a guarantee.
We are pleased to report that a few early releases and one closure for Monday:
Berkshire Hills
Berkshire Waldorf (CLOSED)
Clarksburg
Emma Miller
Gabriel Abbott
Lee
Lenox
Richmond Consolidated
Stamford (VT)
Here are some details about the storm:
*The storm will start earliest in South County, and the snow line will slowly creep north. First flakes could fall as early as 8 MA on the Mass/CT border but as late as 2 or 3 PM on the Mass/VT state line. As a result, South County denizens will likely be the snow total winners.
*Because this is a nor'easter, those who live on the east-facing slopes of the Berkshires--north and south--should also receive the highest snow totals.
*We could see a wide range of snow totals. The southeast corner (Sandisfield, New Marlborough, Monterey) could easily exceed a foot. Those who live in the northwest corner--Williamstown, North Adams--might scrape by with only 6 inches.
*Heaviest snow periods--an inch an hour--should occur Monday night and Tuesday morning.
*An x-factor with this storm will be 25-35 mph winds, which will develop later Monday night. The drifting and blowing snow--and it will be a very light and fluffy snow--could create frequent white-out conditions. Driving on Tuesday morning will be no picnic.
On to the maps from our local weather experts!
We'll update tonight if any more releases come in, and by midday Monday we'll do a quick update with any late-breaking developments.
