More good news. It looks like the two energy systems for the Friday storm--the northern one and the southern one--are going to merge a form a coastal low pressure system that will move up the east coast. Things can certainly change over the next two days--the two systems might not merge after all--but if the all models continue to sync up (as they have been), then we are looking at a
County-wide weather-induced three-day weekend. Boo-yah!

Perfect positioning and timing for this coastal low. Thanks, Accuweather. |
We will all need to monitor the situation closely, but we are feeling very optimistic about this major storm. The timing looks about as good as it gets, and the precipitation could be in the 6 to 10" range. It is likely we'll be naming this storm Diamond in the next 36 hours.
This weather chart is saying we are in the 18-24inch range. Is it true? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=552467878106100&set=a.107787602574132.12633.107288149290744&type=1&theater
ReplyDeleteThe Euro model (which is what this map is based on) has been aggressive with this storm from the beginning. Still, the Euro model has been the preferred model all winter. We still think that's an ambitious forecast, but if we get half of what this computer model is predicting, then we're going to have a snow day.
